Overview of Justice Court's Benefit Package

The following is a brief outline of the benefits offered by Justice Court. In all events, plan documents, policies, and Justice Court rules and policies will govern the actual benefits provided. Contact Justice Court Human Resources for more detailed information.

Medical Insurance:

  • PPO - Deductible: Single $1,000 / Family $2,000
    Out-of-Pocket Maximum: $2,000 / Family $4,000 (does not include deductible)
  • High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) - Health Savings Account (HSA) qualified
    Deductible: Single $2,000 / Family $4,000
    Coinsurance (after deductible): Plan Pays 90% / You Pay 10%
    Out-of-Pocket Maximum: $3,000 / Family $6,000 (includes deductible)

Dental Insurance:

  • 2 different plans offered
  • Includes the option of a dental maintenance organization (DMO) or indemnity type of coverage.
  • The same tiers are available as listed in the medical insurance plans.
  • Dependant and domestic partner coverage available on both plans.

Life Insurance:

  • $50,000 basic coverage provided at no cost
  • Additional Supplemental Life Insurance available in 4 tiers
  • Supplemental Accidental Death and Dismemberment available in 5 tiers with the option of selecting employee only coverage or employee and family coverage
  • Dependant coverage available ($5,000 policy for spouse and $2,000 policy per child)
  • Domestic Partner coverage now available

Workers Compensation:

  • Justice Court is covered under County Risk Management.
  • Workers' Compensation and Occupational Disease Benefits are available for employees and cover accidental injury, disability, disease or death which occurs as a result of employment and is job-related.

Vacation:

  • Judicial Administrative Assistants and designated managers/directors receive 23 days of vacation per year.
  • All other staff accrue vacation time at the following rates:
    • 0 - 3 years of service 12 days per year
    • 3 - 7 years of service 15 days per year
    • 7 - 15 years of service 18 days per year
    • 15 or more years of service 21 days per year
  • With the exception of Judicial Administrative Assistants and designated mangers/directors, vacation time can be carried over from year to year. The maximum accrual allowed on anniversary is 240 hours (30 days).

Sick Leave:

  • All employees accrue sick leave at the rate of 12 days per year.
  • Sick leave can be carried over from year to year with the maximum allowable accrual being 1,920 hours (240 days).

Personalized Benefits:

  • Flexible Spending Accounts allow the employee to deposit money in an account(s) on a pre-tax basis. The funds which are set aside are used by the employee for reimbursement of eligible out-of-pocket costs incurred in the areas of health (medical, dental and/or vision), dependent care, parking and/or transit.
  • Short Term Disability Insurance is an optional benefit to the employee. The employee pays the full cost. This plan pays a portion of the employee's wages for a period of up to six months when he or she is out due to an injury or illness.
  • Legal and Financial Planning Services is optional and provides paid-in-full legal and financial planning services for the employee by an outside carrier. The employee pays the full cost.
  • The Employee Assistance Program provides free, confidential, short-term counseling and referral services for the employee and his or her family. The County pays the full cost.
  • Deferred Compensation Plans are offered by three independent carriers allowing the employee to contribute a portion of his or her salary to supplement retirement savings on a pre-tax basis.

Retirement

AZ State Retirement System & Long Term Disability:

  • Retirement Plan participation is mandatory for all eligible employees who are covered by one of the Arizona State Retirement System plans. This is a defined benefit plan in which the County and the employee contribute a certain percentage based on the employee's salary. Long term disability coverage, available on most plans, is a benefit which pays an employee when he or she is out of work due to illness or injury for more than six months.
